For the new series opbmusic Stagepass, we’re featuring some of Portland’s most captivating performers in performance, and in backstage interviews that give you a chance to hear the artists’ stories in their own words. Today we launch the online series with this video featuring Portland singer-songwriter Alela Diane.
Alela Diane has had an eventful year. Shortly after releasing last June’s gorgeous and poignant record About Farewell, Diane took time away from music to have a baby. This performance was her first time playing in public in nearly a year. (She joked with us beforehand that she’d need to relearn the guitar.) In this warm and graceful performance, she played a set drawn from her recent and past releases, including favorites like “The Rifle” and “Lost Land.” Click through at the end of the video to see additional songs from this show.
From now through June 11th, you can still get tickets to all our upcoming Stagepass concerts, including the June 11th concert with Black Prairie and St. Even, from our Indiegogo page. There’s a great deal on 3 summer shows for just $25. The full package of shows is just $75. The concerts take place at Mississippi Studios, and we’d love to see you there. When you buy tickets, our partner, PBS Digital Studios, will contribute an equal amount towards the cost of our production, effectively doubling the impact of your donation. This ends June 11th, so don’t wait. Click here to get tickets.
