Our commenting guidelines include but are not limited to:

Hate speech

Comments containing racial slurs, homophobic language, or threats against individuals or groups based on identity.

Includes but is not limited to: Racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ageism, ableism, antisemitism and islamophobia.

Harassment and personal attacks

Targeting someone with abusive language, insults, or personal attacks or defamatory content. Includes threats or celebrations of violence. Patterns of behavior can amount to harassment.

Includes cyberbullying: Online harassment directed at a specific person, or involving public humiliation.

Misinformation and disinformation

Sharing false or misleading information, links or conspiracies that are likely to contribute to the risk of imminent physical harm or that directly contributes to interference with the functioning of political processes. Providing false information or speculation that causes harm.

Trolling

Intentionally posting provocative or disruptive comments, memes or images to incite conflict or derail conversations, or are off topic and do not contribute to fruitful dialogue.

Doxxing

Posting personal information of OPB staff members or others without their consent with the goal of embarrassing, intimidating, or causing harm to the individual.

Explicit content

Posting graphic images, nudity, or sexually suggestive content; lewd/crude posts.

Spam and personal promotion

Repeatedly posting irrelevant or promotional content, or links to external websites.

Bots and scams

Nonsensical, spammy, phishing, or fraudulent content intended to deceive users.
