Home sales in the central Willamette Valley saw a remarkable jump in November.

THANKS TO OUR SPONSOR:

The number of closed home sales around Salem increased 41 percent year-over-year.

Now the numbers are small: That’s 158 homes this November compared to 112 at the same time last year. But it’s the strongest November a group of realtors — the "Regional Multiple Listings Service" — has ever seen.

It comes after a good year too. The average house price in Marion and Polk Counties increased by about 10 percent —  about $24,000.

In Vancouver, there was also an uptick in closings in November. There, the average sales price also rose about 10 percent.

In Portland and Eugene, activity cooled. But prices continued to rise — 11 percent and 8 percent, respectively.
