An Oregon State Police major crimes team began an investigation and enlisted the help of a specialty DNA lab.

Police asked the public for help finding her and released a sketch in January.

In October of this year, the lab alerted state police that the girl had been identified as 9-year-old Hayley Mae Coblentz. She was not reported missing at the time of her death.

This week, with the help of the FBI, police found and arrested the girl’s mother and the woman’s girlfriend. Both were unidentified.

The two had been living in the Northwest for several years, but they were arrested and jailed in Michigan. They were both charged with aggravated murder.
