Rescue crews have suspended the search on Mount Hood for a 30-year-old snowboarder who was reported missing on Tuesday.

Ryan Mather’s last reported location was the Shooting Star Express ski lift at Mt. Hood Meadows. His girlfriend called authorities after he didn’t come home from snowboarding. A search for Mather was launched after personnel found his car in the resort’s parking lot.

Crews searched hundreds of acres of the mountain on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, but found no sign of Mather. Thursday’s search efforts primarily focused on the technical black diamond and double black diamond rated areas in and around Heather Canyon, Jack’s Woods and the Private Reserve.

The Hood River Sheriff’s Office announced Thursday night that the massive search effort would be suspended due to bad weather.

Mt. Hood Ski Patrol members will continue to look for him.
