Councilor representing north Clark County sworn in early
Newly elected Clark County Councilor Sue Marshall is beginning her term as the District 5 representative a little sooner than expected. Marshall said she learned of the swearing-in ceremony the day of.
“It seems like it’s caught people by surprise,” she said.

Options for Lane County name change include rededicating
Lane County staff said the power to rename the county is limited and would need to be approved by voters. The board of commissioners can, however, rededicate the county by formally renouncing the county’s namesake Joseph Lane. The board can select a different Lane, or no person at all, to honor, said county spokeswoman Devon Ashbridge. The county is still in early discussions about renaming or rededicating. Jackson County approves regulations for psilocybin business locations
Jackson County approved the planning commission’s recommendation, in adopting time, place and manner regulations for where psilocybin businesses will be allowed to operate. This affects the production, manufacturing and service centers.

Medford, Ashland libraries now open every day
Two of the largest library branches in Jackson County will now be open every day of the week. The Medford and Ashland libraries will have identical hours: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays and noon to 5 p.m. on weekends. The new hours went into effect Dec. 1, according to a release issued by Jackson County Library Services, bringing each branch to a seven days a week service. (Mail Tribune staff)
