Ahead of the July Fourth holiday, several cities and counties across the region are planning large fireworks displays. Others are producing shows featuring lasers or drones.
Lasers and drones are not only unique but also more fire-safe, as several areas have burn bans in place. Many municipalities also have bans or restrictions on whether people can purchase their own fireworks. OPB has a complete list of those rules here.
Notably, Southwest Washington does not have a planned fireworks display on the Fourth of July. The Fort Vancouver Fourth of July Fireworks is no longer taking place, however, Battleground, Wash. will have fireworks as part of its Harvest Days Festival on July 19. Otherwise, people in the area will need to cross the Columbia River to check out one of the Oregon-area displays.
