Level 3 (Go Now!) evacuation orders have been downgraded near a wildfire in Umatilla County.
The Cold Springs Fire started Wednesday afternoon in the Hat Rock area. It had burned an estimated 1,000 acres as of Wednesday night.
About 250 nearby residents were still under Level 1 (Be Ready) and Level 2 (Be Set) evacuation orders as of Thursday morning.
Crews had estimated at one point that the fire was much larger, but Umatilla County fire officials said they reduced the acreage due to more accurate mapping from the air.
The fire has already destroyed one home and is threatening 15 to 30 structures, fire officials said.
An evacuation shelter was set up at the Eastern Oregon Trade and Event Center at 1705 East Airport Road in Hermiston.
