Tens of thousands of people are expected to attend the 2025 Portland Pride festival and parade this weekend in downtown Portland.

THANKS TO OUR SPONSOR:

The festival runs from noon to 8 p.m. on Saturday, and from 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday at Tom McCall Waterfront Park.

The parade, which is the biggest Pride parade in Oregon, kicks off at 11 a.m. on Sunday in Old Town.

Pride events have taken place in Portland since 1976, and local nonprofit Pride Northwest has been organizing the celebration since 1994.

While many cities hold Pride in June, Portland made the move to July in 2023. Organizers made the shift to avoid conflicts with other important events like Juneteenth and the Delta Park Powwow.

Pride Northwest said Portland Pride will continue to be held in July for the foreseeable future.

Parade participants will gather at the corner of Northwest Broadway and Davis Street. From there, they’ll head east on Davis to Naito Parkway, then march south on Naito to Harvey Milk Street near the waterfront.

The route is about 1 mile long.

Who will participate in the parade

THANKS TO OUR SPONSOR:

This year’s parade features around 160 groups, including LGBTQ+ organizations, nonprofits, representatives from city and county governments, and local businesses across Oregon and Southwest Washington.

Uniformed and armed law enforcement officers have not been allowed to march in the parade since 2021, in an effort to create a more inclusive environment.

How to get to the parade

Organizers suggest using public transit or rideshare to get to the festivities.

For those who need accessible transportation, you can request a ride through PDX Wave, a city-run program that operates 24/7. Call 503-865-4WAV (503-865-4928) to request a ride.

There’s no designated parking for the parade or festival, and while there are paid parking options nearby, spaces are limited. SmartPark garages throughout downtown are another option.

Be aware that road closures are expected downtown throughout the Pride weekend, so driving may be tricky.

What participants shouldn’t bring to the parade

To keep the event fun and safe for everyone, organizers ask that attendees leave the following at home:

  • Alcohol
  • Drugs
  • Weapons
  • Cigarettes and vapes
  • Air horns
  • Laser pointers
  • Drones
  • Helium balloons
  • Glass containers

How to stay hydrated

The weekend forecast looks sunny with temperatures in the high 70s to low 80s Fahrenheit.

But don’t forget to stay hydrated. There will be water stations near the Pine Street and Harvey Milk Street entrances to the festival. There’s also a misting station near Ash Street for people who need to cool down.
