A Clark County Sheriff’s office deputy fatally shot a man in Vancouver’s Uptown Village neighborhood on Wednesday night.
Deputies responded to a 911 call about a man breaking the front door to get into his parent’s home.
He was allegedly high on meth and the caller feared for their life, according to a sheriff’s office press release.
Minutes later, the suspect left the home on a bicycle. Clark County sheriff’s deputies found him nearby, and they said he had a gun.
The sheriff’s deputy shot the man, who died at the scene. No other details about the shooting were provided.
The Clark County Medical Examiner’s office has not released the identity of the deceased man.
The deputy involved in the shooting has been put on leave. The incident is being investigated by the Washington State Office of Independent Investigations.
