Two police officers were shot Monday night near Lloyd Center in Northeast Portland, according to the Portland Police Bureau.
Police said the officers had been called to a disturbance near Northeast 21st Avenue and Clackamas Street just after 8 p.m. When they found the suspect a few blocks away, he shot them and fled.

Both officers were taken to nearby hospitals and their conditions were described as stable.
Police set up a perimeter to search for the suspect and they shut down several roads between Northeast Broadway and Multnomah streets, from 15th Avenue to 21st Avenue.
Portland Mayor Keith Wilson and Portland Police Bureau Chief Bob Day also responded to the scene.
“This is a stark reminder of the dangers of the job,” Wilson said in a press conference that was streamed at KGW.com. “The jobs that our officers go out every day to serve and protect our community, and we’re grateful for.
“We’re very concerned for the officers that were shot. We’re happy to hear that they are in stable condition, and we wish them a speedy recovery, and we send them our prayers.”
The initial search effort wrapped up early Tuesday morning and police reopened the streets that had been closed overnight.
The suspect was not located.

Police described him as a white man in his mid-30s with facial hair, wearing a black baseball cap, a black jacket over a gray hooded sweatshirt, black pants and black shoes.
They said he was armed with a knife and a handgun. He was seen carrying a black backpack and a green shopping bag.
