Launch party for Portland's WNBA team - the Fire

Portland’s incoming WNBA team is rekindling a familiar name – the Fire. The team revealed the name and updated logo Tuesday and hosted a launch party at the Moda Center, where the franchise will start play in May 2026. The first iteration of the Portland Fire played three seasons in 2000 before folding during a period of WNBA contraction. But now the league is enjoying record-breaking viewership.
