The man who was shot after struggling with a police officer at the Portland International Airport last week appeared in Multnomah County Circuit Court on Monday.
Deshawn Deandre Seamster, 31, has been charged with six counts, including assault of a public safety officer, unlawful use of a weapon and felon in possession of a firearm. He’s also facing several misdemeanor charges related to Friday’s incident.
Airport surveillance video shows around 5:20 a.m. Friday, Port of Portland Police Officer Garland Porter approached Seamster near baggage carousel seven on the lower level of Portland International Airport, according to court documents released Monday. Seamster was laying on his back.

Seamster stood up and turned his body away from Porter, according to court documents based on the surveillance footage.
Seamster then reached into his pocket, pulled away from the officer, and then ran into a glass revolving door while reach towards his pants, court documents state. The officer chased Seamster into the revolving door where "there appeared to be a struggle," court documents state.
Two witnesses heard what they described as a gun shot. Officer Porter took Seamster to the ground, on the curb outside glass revolving door. A baggage handler who was walking to work helped Officer Porter by holding Seamster's left arm while Porter held his right.
The baggage handler said he saw a gun in Seamster's right hand, which Porter removed.
The court documents note a bullet hole in the revolving glass door.
Police said Friday the officer did not fire his weapon during the incident. The firearm that discharged was recovered at the scene.
“The suspect sustained a non-life threatening injury and was treated by medical personnel and treated at a local hospital,” Port of Portland Police Chief Jason Wallis said Friday.
Officer Porter sustained an injury to his left hand and back and was treated by medics on the scene, while Seamster sustained a gunshot injury to his left hand, which is consistent with "minor injuries" reported shortly after the incident.
Court records show Seamster was booked into jail on Friday afternoon.
