A Clackamas County elections computer with a potential security problem did not compromise confidential voter information, county officials said Friday.

A visitor using the county’s public terminal back in February discovered it allowed access to private driver’s license and partial social security numbers.

Clackamas County deactivated the public computer terminal the next day.

“When I first learned of the issue in February, my staff took immediate action to protect voter information and remove public access to the restricted records. I am pleased that the findings of the independent inquiry found that no voter information was compromised in any way,” said Clackamas County Clerk Sherry Hall.

The county says the Secretary of State’s Office investigated and found no evidence that voter records had been altered.

The county said the secretary of state called the county's response "an appropriate and adequate solution.” The county statement said the terminal had been accessible to the public since 2012.
