“Helado Negro” means “black ice cream,” which is a fairly apt descriptor for the music of Roberto Carlos Lange, an Ecuadorian-American artist whose music is both sweet and at times inscrutably opaque, melting over you with gorgeous keyboard chords and doubled voices, while his live shows offer strange visuals — models veiled in golden fabric on revolving platforms — that suggest a cosmic kind of performance art. Helado Negro’s latest album is “This is How You Smile.” After opening for Beirut in February at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall, the group returns for a headline show at Doug Fir Lounge May 6, and we’re giving away tickets.
Helado Negro will play Doug Fir Lounge on Monday, May 6, at 9:00 p.m. This is a 21+ over show. We’re giving away tickets, and here’s how you can enter for a chance to win:
