Estacada trio Joseph release their much-anticipated second album next week. I’m Alone, No You’re Not follows up on their debut release with more soaring harmonies from Natalie, Allison, and Meegan Closner. New producer Mike Mogis has added pop production flourishes, and lead single “White Flag” shows the group moving from the first record’s acoustic ballads, to anthemic stompers. But it’s still the voices that capture you, with the shimmering closeness and blending that only siblings can get. Joseph is touring through the fall, with a concert in Portland September 9th at the Wonder Ballroom, and in Eugene September 10th at Hi-Fi Lounge.

For this recording, the band suggested a perfectly Portland summertime spot — a boating dock near Omsi on the river’s east bank. In the late afternoon light, and in between the occasional dragon boat or rowing crew landing, the sisters performed four songs from their new release, and talked with OPB State of Wonder host April Baer about their expansive new sound. Watch the performances in the video player above, download the songs and interview below, and catch the interview Saturday at noon on State of Wonder on OPB Radio.
