Oregon is considering switching back to running its own health exchange marketplace, but the guy in charge wants you to know this is not going to be a repeat of the Cover Oregon debacle.
After the colossal failure of the original state-based exchange, Oregon went with the federal system. But now, the government will begin charging for the use of that system. As a result, Director of the Oregon Department of Consumer and Business Services Patrick Allen says his agency is seeking proposals for a new state-based system that will work "out of the box." Allen says he's seeking an option with a proven track record in another state.
