Collectively, Iron Gate, Copco 1 and 2 and J.C. Boyle dams were blocking salmon from swimming up the Klamath River for more than a century. The four dams on the Klamath River in Southern Oregon and Northern California were taken out in the nation’s largest dam removal project. Before and after video captures what the dam sites and reservoirs looked like in 2022, before the $500 million dam removal operation, and in fall of 2024, after deconstruction wrapped up.
