When Michelle Zauner learned her mother was diagnosed with cancer, she stopped pursuing her music career in Philadelphia and headed home to Eugene to become a caretaker. After Zauner loses her Korean mother, she worries she’ll lose that connection to her identity altogether. In her memoir, Zauner details her journey of caring for someone with cancer to creating familiar Korean dishes as a way to honor her heritage.
