The strike is over for Nabisco workers in Portland who walked out over contract disputes over a month ago.

The bakers union announced Saturday it has reached an agreement with snack company Mondelez.

Nabisco is a subsidiary of Mondelez, one of the world’s biggest snack companies. The company and the union have been negotiating a new four-year contract since May.

More than a thousand hourly employees at six Mondelez sites across the country had joined the strike.

Union president Anthony Shelton said in a statement Saturday that it was a long, tough fight. But he said the new contract honors the union’s high standards for wages, hours and benefits.
