Winter weather advisories are in place for the Cascade passes in northern Oregon and Washington through 10 a.m. on Friday.
The National Weather Service says 4 to 8 inches of snow could fall by this evening. Coupled with heavy winds, that could significantly reduce visibility.
Driving conditions could be poor all the way through the weekend. The National Weather Service says traveling through the passes may be “very difficult to impossible.”
A winter storm watch for up to 20 more inches in areas above 3,000 feet begins on Saturday morning and runs through Sunday morning.
If you will be traveling over the Coast Range or the Cascade passes today or tomorrow, be prepared for snow-covered and/or icy road conditions. Expect reduced visibilities at times due to scattered snow showers. Snow levels are hovering around 1000-1500 feet this morning. pic.twitter.com/oWSc1Ms1qW
