Former Beaverton Mayor Denny Doyle charged with possession of child pornography

Doyle, who served as Beaverton’s mayor for over a decade before losing office in 2020, will appear in court Friday.

Former Beaverton Mayor Denny Doyle will appear in federal court Friday on a charge of possessing child pornography.

Doyle served as Beaverton’s mayor from 2009 until he was defeated in the 2020 election. According to the Oregon U.S. Attorney’s Office, Doyle knowingly possessed digital images of child pornography between November 2014 and December 2015. The attorney’s office said at least some of the imagery depicted children younger than 12.

If he’s convicted, the 73-year-old faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison, a fine of $250,000 and a life term of supervised release.

FBI Portland’s Child Exploitation Task Force investigated the case and the Oregon U.S. Attorney’s Office is prosecuting it.
