Much of Oregon will see a bit of weather relief in the coming days, with highs likely to stay in the low- to mid-80s through at least Thursday.
The Portland metro area could even see showers again on Tuesday and Wednesday.
But the National Weather Service is warning that a warming trend is likely to kick in again for the weekend and into next week. The high in Medford could hit 102 degrees by Monday.
There’s a chance Portland could also reach 100 degrees or more by then. The Pendleton forecast calls for high temps in the 90s by early next week.
There is a smaller chance that the Portland area could see extreme weather that sends temperatures above 110 degrees, similar to the devastating 2021 heat dome.
The National Weather Service is reminding people to prepare for the possible high-impact heat by making a plan to stay safe and cool.
Safety tips include drinking plenty of water, wearing light clothing, limiting outdoor activity and checking in on others who may not be equipped to deal with the heat.
