A Washington County Sheriff’s deputy who was shot several times while serving an eviction has been released from the hospital.

Deputy Chuck Dozé returned home Tuesday, just over two weeks after the shooting in Tualatin.

“We are all very grateful for the love, support, and prayers that continue for Chuck and his family,” Sheriff Pat Garrett said in a written statement.

Dozé was shot seven times on July 26. Bullets hit each of his arms, his body armor stopped three bullets, and two other shots hit his head, according to sheriff’s officials. They say the shots broke bones in his upper left and right arms, and he lost his left eye and multiple teeth.

On the day of the shooting, Dozé and other deputies tried to contact 34-year-old Kristafer Graves at his apartment in Tualatin, according to police, when Graves opened fire on the deputies. At least one deputy returned fire and Graves retreated into his apartment, they said.

A SWAT team responded to the scene. After entering his apartment, the team found Graves dead in the bathroom, though police said it’s unclear if he was shot by the deputies or if the wound was self-inflicted.
