Man fatally shot by deputy after high-speed pursuit in Columbia County

Investigators said a deputy shot an armed man following a high-speed pursuit and crash in Columbia County Sunday afternoon.

A Columbia County deputy shot a man following a high-speed pursuit near the community of Deer Island, Oregon, on Sunday, according to Oregon State Police.

The man, 47-year-old Kyle Davis Graham, lost control of his vehicle and went down an embankment.

Investigators said when Deputy Seann Luedke confronted him afterward, Graham was armed. Luedke shot Graham, who died at the scene.

OSP said that Graham had also been involved in a high-speed pursuit with Washington State Patrol on Saturday.

Luedke, who has been with the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office for three years, was put on administrative leave per standard protocol.

State police are investigating the incident, under the guidance of the Columbia County District Attorney’s Office.
