The book chronicles Harris’ 2024 presidential bid. The title is “107 Days,” the length of the race she lost to President Donald Trump a year ago.

Harris became the nominee after then-President Joe Biden dropped out following a disastrous debate with Trump. The book is said to be a personal account of her race, illuminating the questions over Biden’s health and fitness and who would be her running mate, among other things.

Harris’ political future remains unclear, though she recently intimated in a BBC interview that she may run for president again. “I am not done,” she told the news outlet. She announced in July that she was staying out of the 2026 California governor’s race.

Harris’ visit comes as Portland has been lodged in the national spotlight. Trump is trying to send the National Guard to protect the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement building about two miles south of City Hall.

The building has been the site of protests, sparking an ongoing court battle between local officials and the federal government over the president’s authority to use federal troops. He is also seeking to deploy troops in other cities like Chicago and Memphis.

Harris won Oregon in 2024. She received 55.6% of the state’s votes.
