Mía Estrada (she/her) is a podcast producer for OPB, focused on telling stories about home and what it means to us. She previously worked as a producer and reporter at NPR, covering stories about culture, music, Latinos in Hollywood and politics.

Estrada was born in the Rio Grande Valley in South Texas. She is a graduate of the Mayborn School of Journalism at the University of North Texas. In 2021, she was selected for The New York Times Student Journalism Institute, where she reported on racial justice under the guidance of Times journalists. She was also an arts and culture intern at KERA. While there, her work was featured statewide on Texas Standard and the regional NPR "Consider This" podcast.

She was named the 2017 Texas Intercollegiate Press Association Two-Year Reporter of the Year and was the first high school student to win the award. Most recently, Estrada was selected as a finalist for the National Association of Hispanic Journalists 2026 Ñ Awards for a podcast she produced about the journey of Luis Lamas, a Mexican immigrant who once called Woodburn, Oregon, home.

In her free time, Estrada loves to read, plant, hang out with friends and enjoy a good sweet treat. She's also looking for the perfect horchata latte and will take any recommendations!
