A Fierce Green Fire
You only have to look back at the last few weeks’ events to see that the environmental movement is alive and active in the Pacific Northwest.
Tribal members transport a totem pole through the region to raise awareness about their grievances with a proposal to transport coal to a shipping terminal near their reservation. Activists dangle from the Oregon State Capitol to pressure the governor to oppose more logging. Boise, Idaho residents plan a march against genetically modified agriculture as part of an international day of activism.
Such activism has deep roots in this country. And a new documentary is being shown around the world to recount and celebrate it.
A Fierce Green Fire will be screened Friday in Seattle at the Social Justice Film Festival, and next Tuesday, Oct. 15, at the Portland independent theater, Cinema 21.
