Nike will become the official apparel provider for NBA players, starting in 2017, the athletic apparel company and the NBA announced Wednesday.

The agreement is exclusive to Nike, which replaces Adidas as the official NBA uniform provider.

According to a statement on Nike's website, the company will design jerseys, warm-ups and shirts. It will also become the first-ever company to have its logo displayed on player uniforms on the court.

"This partnership with NIKE represents a new paradigm in the structure of our global merchandising business," said NBA Commissioner Adam Silver in the statement. "As our exclusive on court apparel provider, NIKE will be instrumental in our collective efforts to grow the game globally while applying the latest in technology to the design of our uniforms and oncourt products."

Since 2006, Nike had already been the exclusive footwear provider for the NBA. The new agreement gives Nike apparel, design and production rights for eight years.
