A shooting at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg on Thursday left at least 10 people dead and wounded at least seven others, authorities said. It was one of the worst shootings on or near college campuses in recent years.
Friends and family reunited with students at Douglas County Fairgrounds after authorities evacuated the campus. Emergency personnel urged the public to avoid the area, as it could hamper emergency efforts. Community Health Alliance's mental health care specialists were on the scene at Douglas County Fairgrounds – as well as Umpqua Community College and Mercy Hospital – assisting citizens in need.
