The U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee is set to take up the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals nomination of Washington County Judge Danielle Hunsaker on Wednesday.
The confirmation hearing was announced Tuesday. It will be held at 7 a.m. PST in the Dirksen Senate Office building in Washington, D.C.
Hunsaker was nominated by President Donald Trump in August after her name was one of several sent to the White House by Oregon Sens. Ron Wyden and Jeff Merkely, both Democrats.
In 2017, Hunsaker was appointed to the bench by Gov. Kate Brown. She's also served as an adjunct professor at Lewis and Clark Law School in Portland.
Trump and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ken., have prioritized appointing and filling open seats on the court with more conservative judicial nominees.
If confirmed, Hunsaker would take over for 9th Circuit Judge Diarmuid O’Scannlain, who took a lower caseload in 2016 when he moved to senior status. Hunsaker clerked for O'Scannlain.
