Gov. Kate Brown signed a bill March 29 authorizing $4.25 million to renovate the building. The money was allotted in an amendment to Senate Bill 5701, and included an additional $1.8 million that's likely to be used to improve campus safety.

“Snyder Hall is pretty much as it was," said UCC Public Information Officer Anne Marie Levis. "We have a banner on it. Otherwise, it’s pretty much just an empty building at this point. We are starting to do some design work.”

The Roseburg News Review reports that school officials will use most of the money allotted by lawmakers to "

renovate and reconfigure the 50-year-old building

."

“It really is a central building on our campus," Levis said. "It’s something the Legislature felt was important enough for them to allocate that amount of money to enable us to really recover.”

Levis said even though Friday marks six months since the tragedy, right now students and staff are mostly focused on upcoming graduation.
