Halloween is almost here, along with all its usual trappings: candy, costumes — and, increasingly, controversies about costumes that depict racial minorities. Recent examples range from a video released this week of a little child dressed as drug lord Pablo Escobar, to an
Alabama fifth grade teacher who wore blackface as part of a Kanye West costume
.
We'll discuss this subject with a manager of a local costume shop, and with two community leaders who will provide us with their thoughts on costumes portraying racial minorities.
