Portland Gang Violence Remains Higher Than Normal

Six months ago, the Portland Police Bureau added 6 officers and a crime analyst to its gang enforcement team to try to deal with unusually high rates of gang violence. At the time, Police Chief Larry O'Dea said, "We must respond with additional officers to help reduce incidents.''

But incidents haven't gone down. The police have responded to 174 gang violence calls this year, up from 109 last year.
