Sanctuary City

President Donald Trump signed two executive orders Monday aimed at increasing immigration enforcement. The first takes aim at sanctuary cities and states across the country.

U.S. District Judge William Orrick issued the injunction sought by more than a dozen municipalities that limit cooperation with federal immigration efforts.

Portland's elected council members are all white. But many of their employees are not. The frequent, chaotic protests at City Hall have frustrated and even scared some of the people of color who work for the city.

Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler was defiant upon hearing that President Trump would try to strip federal grant money from so-called sanctuary cities.
