Klamath Tribes assess fire losses

An Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife hatchery building was destroyed by the Two Four Two Fire near Klamath Agency, north of Klamath Lake. Fish in tanks near the building seemed unharmed.

The Two Four Two fire in Southern Oregon burned through thousands of acres, many of them hunting and gathering grounds for the Klamath Tribes. The fire also burned the tribes' cemetery and at least one tribal member’s house. At the same time, the tribes have seen an uptick in COVID-19 cases.
