Oregon Humanities started its ‘Dear Stranger’ letter-writing program in 2014, but it took on a new meaning during the COVID-19 pandemic. People send letters, anonymously if they choose, and in some cases, strike up a correspondence. The nonprofit organization behind the project saw a surge in interest in the program in 2020 and, for some letter writers, it became an essential connection during a time of social isolation. We hear from letter-writers Rebecca McCroskey and Justin Chin.
