At the scene, Beaverton police said they learned a patrol vehicle driven by an off-duty Washington County deputy had hit a man.

“Despite life-saving efforts by the involved deputy, responding officers and paramedics, the adult, male pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene,” Beaverton police said in a statement.

Investigators said they do not think the officer was speeding. The officer was driving through a green light at the intersection when the crash happened, according to police.

The deputy, who has not been named, has been placed on leave until the investigation is complete.

On Friday, Beaverton Police released the name of the person killed: Oliver Sevin Frazier-Savoy, 24, of Beaverton.
