The novel “The Book of Joan,” by local author Lidia Yuknavitch, reimagines the character of Joan of Arc in a post apocalyptic world where the earth has been consumed by war and the remaining humans have become sexless, genderless creatures whose main form of self-expression is scarring their own skin. We listen back to a conversation with Yuknavitch from 2017.
