Redmond librarian raises funds to diversify books in schools

When Pia Alliende was hired as the librarian for the Redmond School District, the average publication date for books was 1998. Alliende helped raise money to buy new books, with a focus on increasing representation and diversity. Alliende was recently nominated for School Librarian of the Year by the School Library Journal. We talk to her about the changes she made, and the importance of representation in libraries.
