Before the pandemic started, musician Gabriel Kahane had pledged to spend a year without the internet, partly as a way to reconnect with the people around him. Then when the lockdown arrived, his year offline ended up being a little more isolated than he had imagined. Kahane has emerged from that time with a new album, Magnificent Bird. We talk to Kahane about his album, his work as the Creative Chair for the Oregon Symphony, and his pandemic move to Portland.
