Police say a man was shot and killed on Monday night by Clackamas County deputies and Portland police officers.
It happened just before 11 p.m. on Southeast 82nd Avenue, in unincorporated Clackamas County. According to a statement from the Clackamas County Sheriff’s office, lifesaving measures were administered but the man died at the scene.
Police on Wednesday identified the man as 20-year-old Jack Watson, of Portland.
In a statement, Portland police said Watson had been a suspect in the shooting death of 29-year-old Zachery Freeman on Sunday morning.
Police said a warrant was issued for Watson’s arrest by Sunday evening.
They located him Monday night and pursued him in unincorporated Clackamas County. Investigators say Watson fired a gun at deputies and officers, who returned fire and fatally shot him.
The Clackamas County District Attorney’s Office says the involved officers and deputies are on leave. A major crimes team is investigating.
