Republican Andy Barr won election Tuesday to the U.S. Senate representing Kentucky, defeating Democrat Charles Booker. Barr served in the U.S. House for seven terms before turning his eyes to the Senate seat being vacated by Republican Sen. Mitch McConnell. The Republican had President Donald Trump’s endorsement, and he painted Booker as too far left for Kentucky. Booker is a former state representative. The Associated Press declared Barr the winner at 9:16 p.m. EST.
