Alex Newman

Alex Newman is a producer, MC, DJ, and host of The New Format (weekdays from 11am-1pm PST) at KMHD.

Born in Anchorage, Alaska, Alex Newman grew up in a house filled with records and tapes that sparked a lifelong love of music. He moved to Seattle, where the legendary jazz programs at Washington Middle School and Garfield High School deepened his passion and sharpened his skills. After heading south to Los Angeles, Alex dove headfirst into the city’s vibrant underground hip-hop scene, carving out a name for himself as a producer, MC, and DJ. Eventually landing in Portland, he found a new home in radio through stations like KBOO, Free Form Portland, and eventually on air at KMHD.
