Chrissy Booker

Chrissy Booker is a journalist, a digital producer for OPB and a third-generation Portlander. She is passionate about fair, balanced journalism, impactful storytelling, creative writing and self-expression through art.

Chrissy began working at The Columbian in Vancouver, Wash. in June 2023 as a Charles Snowden intern. After being hired full-time, she began covering health care and nonprofits. Her work at The Columbian has been published in The Seattle Times, The Spokesman Review, the Tacoma News Tribune and more.

Before joining The Columbian, she created an arts and culture magazine called Labyrinth, tutored journalism students at the University of Oregon’s Writing Central, and served as the 2023 editor-in-chief of Black Student Magazine at Journalistic Learning Initiative. She received the 2023 Mentorship Award from the Journalistic Learning Initiative for the guidance she provided to emerging journalists at Black Student Magazine.

When Chrissy isn’t producing digital content for OPB, she’s reading books, writing poetry, drinking coffee, exploring the hidden gems of Portland and singing with her dad.

Chrissy has a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from the University of Oregon’s School of Journalism and Communication.
