Clatskanie Mayor Recall Fails

Clatskanie Mayor Diane Pohl will remain in office following a recall vote Tuesday.  

A citizen group petitioned in September to recall Pohl, based on how she handled a complaint against police Chief Marvin Hoover. Two city officers complained in July that Hoover had made racist and mocking remarks about African Americans.

After Chief Hoover subsequently retired, Mayor Pohl was criticized for praising him and his career.
 
Columbia County election results show that 53 percent of Clatskanie voters did not support the recall of Mayor Pohl.
