Online Security Company McAfee Laying Off More Than 100 Employees In Hillsboro

The online security company McAfee is laying off 107 employees at its Hillsboro location.

In a notice to the state of Oregon last week, the company said the layoffs are expected to be permanent and terminations are anticipated to happen Dec. 31.

The company is laying off 44 software development engineers. The rest of the layoffs are spread out among different positions.

"McAfee continues to invest in growth areas and optimize processes to put the customer at the core of everything we do and to accelerate our device-to-cloud cybersecurity strategy," a McAfee spokesperson said in a statement.

"To do this, we must balance the needs of the business with those of our workforce. We approach these decisions thoughtfully and with care for impacted employees."
