Portland Pedestrian Killed By Truck In Interstate 5 Collision

UPDATE (Friday, Oct. 4 at 10 a.m. PT) — Portland Police say a pedestrian was struck and killed by a semitruck Thursday evening on Interstate 5 at the Fremont Bridge.

The collision occurred at 6:48 p.m and all lanes of I-5 south were closed for several hours.

The driver of the semi remained at the scene and police say was cooperating with investigators.

Police said Friday morning that the pedestrian was an adult male wearing all dark clothing.

They said he appeared to be trying to cross I-5 when the semitruck hit him.

The identity of the pedestrian has not yet been released.

This is the 44th traffic fatality in Portland this year. More people have died in traffic fatalities in the city so far this year than in all of 2018.
