In this leg of Stop Requested, the journey continues with a ride on Benton County Transit’s Coast-to-Valley Express, a key link between Oregon’s coast and inland towns. Lillian and Prakruti navigate the challenges of public transit to reach Lakeview, a small town perched a mile high in the mountains. The journey begins with a quick ride on Klamath Falls' local transit, but the real adventure begins with the Lake County Cloud, a service that helps residents of Lakeview and surrounding areas access essential services. This leg highlights not just the logistical challenges of rural transportation, but also the tight-knit communities that make it all work.

In this installment, Lillian and Prakruti travel through Oregon’s remote north Lake County, reaching the isolated town of Christmas Valley. The duo navigates the sparsely populated region with the help of Lake County Transit, which operates on a flexible, by-request system, catering to locals who rely on these services for medical trips, groceries and social interaction. With long stretches of empty terrain and few services, this leg of the journey underscores the importance of rural transit in connecting people and essential services.

The ride is comfortable but expensive, and Lillian and Prakruti share the bus with a frequent traveler heading to Burns. After a brief stop in Ontario, the pair confront a dilemma: how to get to Baker City.
