In a surprise move, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has withdrawn one of President Donald Trump's judicial nominees just minutes before he was set for a confirmation vote.

On Thursday, the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee confirmed the nomination of Ryan Bounds to sit as a judge on the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.

During the confirmation hearing, Ryan Bounds apologized for controversial writings he made in college about sexual assaults, multiculturalism and the LGBTQ community.

Despite objections from Oregon's two U.S. Senators, a conservative federal prosecutor nominated by President Donald Trump to fill a vacancy on the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals will get his confirmation hearing this week.
